Sirius Satellite

Most everyone has heard of Sirius Radio by now, but that only happened in 1999.  Before that you’d probably never heard of Satellite CD Radio.  They changed the name to Sirius after that particular star in our constellation.  Then Sirius became really big in 2006 when they started their broadcasting services around the entire world.

Sirius Satellite Radio is continuously broadcast via the three satellites they have in orbit.

Sirius broadcasts a wide range of musical tastes through sixty-nine radio stations.  They also have sixty-five sports channels.  The sports channels broadcast shows and news as well.  One of the most essential features of satellite radio for avid music fans is the many programs available.  The ease of use is that all the programming is categorized and then subcategorized.  This is fantastic if a listener is searching for specific songs or types of music.

In order to have Sirius Satellite Radio, consumers must purchase a receiver and the signals from the satellites are transmitted to that receiver.  The coolest part of these receivers is that their design allows a display of information or images as the music plays.

Customers will also need a special antenna that allows transmission from the satellite to the receiver.  You connect this antenna to your car or to the outside of your home.

Satellite radio may be an old idea, but the increase of subscribers is proof that it is still and extremely popular idea.
